By 2030, SDG 12 aims to significantly reduce waste production through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse. The use of polluting energy sources must be reduced. We need to make sure that the small percentage of drinking water that is available – only three percent of the world’s water supply is fresh water – is less often polluted and wasted. In the field of food production, the distribution needs to be improved. Our production must be cleaner: the goal is to reduce chemicals and other waste in the air, water and soil.
